Cesc Fabregas' Como Clinches Historic First Serie A Win in Over 21 Years
Newly promoted Como made history with a remarkable 3-2 victory over Atalanta, marking their first Serie A win since May 2003. The victory came in a thrilling rescheduled match on Tuesday, where Cesc Fabregas' side fought back with impressive second-half goals from Gabriel Strefezza and Alieu Fadera, alongside an own goal by Atalanta's Sead Kolasinac.
The match, initially scheduled for Monday night, was postponed due to severe rain in Bergamo. Atalanta seemed to be in control early on, with Davide Zappacosta giving the hosts the lead in the 18th minute by volleying a corner clearance into the bottom left corner. However, Como responded just 20 seconds into the second half, with a skillful backheel assist from Sergi Roberto to Gabriel Strefezza, who fired the equalizer into the far bottom corner.
Como's resurgence continued in the 54th minute, thanks to a stroke of luck when Nicolás Paz’s shot deflected off Kolasinac, wrongfooting Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi. Only four minutes later, Alieu Fadera delivered a stunning blow to Atalanta's defense, receiving a long ball from Paz, skillfully dribbling past captain Marten de Roon, and finishing into the far corner to put Como 3-1 ahead.

Atalanta managed to pull one back in stoppage time, with Ademola Lookman converting a penalty after Alberto Dossena fouled Vanja Vlahović. Despite the late goal, it wasn’t enough to prevent Atalanta's third defeat of the season, just days after their goalless draw against Arsenal in the Champions League.
For Como, the victory was a monumental achievement, marking their return to Serie A glory after more than two decades.
