Erik Ten Hag Applauds Man United’s Leadership for Proactive Transfer Moves

Since British billionaire and INEOS chairman Jim Ratcliffe assumed control of football operations at Old Trafford with a 25% stake in February, Manchester United has not only seen a shift in its hierarchy but also reaped the benefits of fresh ideas.

Manchester United has been assertive in the transfer market, thanks to the club’s leadership making swift and decisive moves to secure new talent early, manager Erik ten Hag remarked following the signings of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

United recently signed French defender Leny Yoro on a five-year contract for 62 million euros ($67 million). The 18-year-old had been targeted by several top European clubs, including Real Madrid, before opting for Manchester.

Another significant acquisition was striker Joshua Zirkzee, who had an impressive season with Serie A club Bologna and represented the Netherlands in the European Championship. United secured the 23-year-old on a five-year deal for 42.5 million euros.

“It is very good that we are also proactive in the transfer market,” Ten Hag said on Saturday. “The leadership is doing an excellent job, and this proactive approach is how we want to operate as United.”

“We are highly ambitious and must be prepared for the season. The sooner we integrate new players, the quicker we can develop our team.”

Yoro made a notable debut in United’s 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Scottish side Rangers on Saturday. Zirkzee, who has been given time off following the European Championship, is expected to join the squad in August.
