Manchester United began their Europa League 2024-25 campaign with a 1-1 draw against FC Twente at a rainy Old Trafford on Wednesday night. Despite Christian Eriksen giving United the lead, Dutch striker Sam Lammers equalized to rescue a point for Twente.
The match was intense from the start. Twente showed early threat through Lammers, who nearly scored, but his shot went just wide of the post.

Eriksen finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute with an unstoppable curling shot from inside the box, putting United 1-0 up. However, Twente kept pressing and managed to equalize in the 68th minute. Lammers scored after beating Andre Onana at the near post with a powerful strike.
After the equalizer, Manchester United tried to regain the lead. Joshua Zirkzee had a good chance shortly after, but his tight-angle shot was brilliantly saved by Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall. In the final minutes, Bruno Fernandes almost secured the win with a curling shot to the top corner, but Twente's defense held firm and resisted United's late pressure until the final whistle.
Lazio's Dominant Win
In another match, Lazio secured a convincing 3-0 win against Dynamo Kyiv in Hamburg, thanks to two goals from Boulaye Dia and another from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. Lazio dominated the game from the start and left no room for Dynamo Kyiv to bounce back.
Galatasaray's Victory Over PAOK
In Turkey, Galatasaray impressed with a 3-1 victory against PAOK. An own goal from Abdul Rahman Baba, along with goals from Yunus Akgun and Mauro Icardi, sealed the win for the home side. Despite Giannis Konstantelias scoring a consolation goal for PAOK, Galatasaray maintained control throughout the match.
Other Matches
Nice and Real Sociedad had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Ander Barrenetxea opened the scoring for Sociedad before Pablo Rosario equalized for Nice.
Meanwhile, Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt triumphed over FC Porto with a 3-2 win, despite being reduced to 10 men in the 51st minute. Jens Petter Hauge scored a brace to secure the win for Bodo/Glimt in a tense match after a red card.
