Martin Odegaard Injured After Norway's 2-1 Victory Over Austria in Nations League
In the continuation of the Nations League match, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard suffered an injury as Norway secured a 2-1 victory over Austria. Odegaard was forced to leave the pitch after receiving treatment for several minutes in the second half following a collision with Austria’s Christoph Baumgartner.
Norway coach Stale Solbakken revealed that Odegaard's injury appeared serious. "In the dressing room, the injury looked bad. I saw Martin sitting with the physiotherapists, and there was no way he could continue the match. We know it’s an ankle sprain," Solbakken told Norwegian TV 2.
However, there is a bit of optimism from the coach. "Yes, it’s an ankle sprain, and for those of us who have played football, with a bit of luck, it might not be too bad if the ligaments aren’t torn," he added.

Norwegian team doctor Sand mentioned that Odegaard is now in a better condition. "Martin has suffered a minor ankle sprain. We will monitor his condition tonight and tomorrow to determine the next steps. Injuries like this are difficult to treat immediately, so we need to wait and see how it develops. We’ll perform further examinations at the hotel, possibly using ultrasound, and if there are still doubts, we’ll do an MRI tomorrow," Sand explained.
Currently, Norway is in second place in League B Group 3 with four points, level with Slovenia. Norway is scheduled to face Slovenia on October 10, but it remains to be seen whether Odegaard will be fit to return to the pitch soon.
